LemonyGoodness Try this:

DPN > TUNNEL > Add These

North Europe - United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
East Asia - Japan
East Asia - South Korea
Southeast Asia - Singapore
North America - United States

If you are located in any of the above countries, then REMOVE IT

Set your DPN to SMART ROUTE

Problem solved, I hope...

New to the DeeperNetwork. Just received my Mini. I have a Gigabit Fiber network. I consistently get around 9ms ping with 900+ down / 800+ upload on hardwired connections and probably close to 13ms ping with 850+ down / 700 up on wifi.

With the Mini plugged in inbetween my Fiber Modem and my Google Nest Mesh Wifi which is then connected to my Network Switch that all my other hard wired devices are plugged in to I have been receiving 152ms ping with 29 down / 20 up on hardwired devices. On Wifi, I am receiving 164ms ping with 6 down / 3 up.

I did not change any settings in the AtomOS dashboard, and I can verify that I am on smartroute as well as having auto updates turned on, and I believe I am on the most up-to-date version of the firmware.

I need my bandwidth as I work from home, and my job requires me to download and upload lots of data. I have had to unplug the device and just go back to using my network as it was before.

    This is unacceptable!!!

Any recommendations to correct these latency issues? If not, then I need to figure out how to return the device as it is pointless to have if you cannot even use your home internet connection.

    Thank you!

ejmac0 Actually you need to ensure which server Speedtest.net is using. Since DPN is decentralised, speedtest.net incorrectly uses a server from the tunnel which is incorrect. A true indicator is using your ISP's server. Having said that though, I also have noticed a lag of some of my favourite websites which I think does need to be looked at.

Lipora Would be good if deeper network attempts to match the initial download speed instead of capping at 4 user connections in smart route mode. I have fibre which is theoretically able to do 100Mbps download but it will drop if my DPN connects to 4 users who have 1 Mbps upload each in Smart Route mode. Theoretically if devices could do an initial test to assess the download speed then the device dynamically adjusts to the number of user connections needed to achieve this speed. It will mean no user will suffer from a speed slowdown. Right now unfortunately I have had to disable my device as its just too slow to use.

JoJo Actually I changed to the respective countries as per your post and I think it may have fixed the slowness issue. Just means those countries have a higher likelihood of getting fibre. Still Deeper Network needs to change to a dynamic user connection to ensure each user isn't penalised for connecting to the DPN

Lipora This is the correct answer. The speed we all get from the device is entirely dependent on what people are willing to share and what people make available to the device, this is not a vpn its a dpn remember that. Harping on support or talking about this how this device doesn't work or is "too slow" will not change that. The device is for me working as expected. The speed is fine.

I am sure this device will improve with time, this is not really the way to go if your looking for pure speed. Its not a dedicated tunnel just for you in that regard.

This device will only work as good as the people whos connection it tunnels through. I think people need to remember that fact. Understanding what this device does and how it operates will answer most of peoples questions about "speed"

JoJo, I can verify that your configuration suggestions works. Thank you.

        remembering it's a DPN ... okay

As I'm in the USA I've set it as above without the entry for the USA ... and it's not usable yet.

I'll put it on a shelf and check back. (And hope that I'll have JoJo 's luck.)

This reminds me of my UI.com hardware (which is fantastic now, and sucky 2 yrs ago)

        Thanks

rawsushi try with smart DPN option, you'll get the speeds. There's no reason why only you should be getting bad speeds. Keep trying, it took me a month to learn the options and set to my needs. There's still more I need to learn, but it is working for me!

JoJo Why does your own country have to be removed from the list?

I live in Australia and had to add an Australian tunnel with Domain Config rule for Netflix to be routed there. Otherwise my housemates complain that they get routed to USA Netflix.

Ricky Add netflix to your domain bypass.
If you keep your own country, it will affect your speed, that is because the traffic will go out and then back in.

            a month later

I did what JoJo recommended and now I went from roughly 700 Mbps down to roughly 45 Mbps after connecting the MINI. Still much slower than pre-MINI. Upload is about the same at 30-40 Mbps and Latency stayed close to 15-17 ms as it was before. SO WHAT GIVES WITH THE DOWNLOAD SPEED?? Why would anyone consider virtually a +90% drop in speed acceptable? Am I gaining in bandwidth? I know there are benefits and trade-offs, but I didn't expect such a substantial decline in performance. Full disclosure...I'm new to all of this so excuse the rookie pov. Thank you!

So my SPEEDTEST app on my mac is giving me about 45 Mbps down and 45 Mbps up. But, when I check the SPEEDTEST on my iPhone I'm getting 500 Mbps down and 45 Mbps up. Not sure why the discrepancy.

I installed the Deeper Mini and it is dropping my internet speed from 80 mbs down to 2.2 mbs. I have tried all of the suggestions mentioned above but none of them have improved my download speed. The upload speed gets dropped from 10 mbs down to .8 mbs.

I have tried several speed test sites and they all report similar numbers.

I had to disconnect the mini because these speeds are just unacceptable.

Hopefully i can figure out a solution to this. As of now the Deeper Mini was a waste of money for me.

            Just sharing my experience.

            11 days later

I have it set to DPN Smart Route, and have added speedtest.net to the direct route list. I'm still getting a lackluster speed. Video calls for work are laggy or drop out, not to mention the buffering on my streaming services. I've only had my Mini for less than a week and have not updated the firmware to the latest 1.1.1.rel yet... Will that resolve my issues?

With the Mini connected and running on version 1.1.0.c8
            Ping - 89ms
            Download - 3.57Mbps
            Upload - 2.74Mbps

            WIthout Mini connected
            Ping - 17ms
            Download - 345Mbps
            Upload - 23Mbps

I re-read the posts above and deleted the tunnel from my country. My new speed test results are close to without the Mini connected...

With the Mini connected and running on version 1.1.0.c8
            With my country's tunnel deleted
            Ping - 19ms
            Download - 329Mbps
            Upload - 17.89Mbps

I'll continue to update again later to see if my video calls and streaming services are better or if they are still laggy.
